thoughts on… | Greige
For the past 20 or so years, grey has been the safe, go-to color option for interiors… the 20 years before that it was beige… and somewhere in the middle of all of this, we invented a color called greige - which somehow made everybody feel comfortable with their choices. I’m here to tell you that I’m over it and you should be too.
Don’t get me wrong, a good solid grey has its place but let’s talk about you and where you spend your days… Do you consider yourself a grey person? Why do you want to live in a grey house? How does grey make you feel?
Let’s consider color psychology… while grey can be a calm, neutral tone; generally, when we think of the color grey, we think of growing old, dullness, depression - it’s an absence of color, it’s indecisive and boring. Why are we painting our homes the same color of a prison cell?!
We are at the end of 2020, and we ALL need a fresh space - we need to rejuvenate our lives, add some warmth and vibrancy into our worlds. Bring some hope back into the world and we can do all of that with a quick switch of the paint color in your home.
I’m not saying that your house needs to look like a circus - I’m currently loving a fresh, bright white or a warm, cream color - they’re just inviting you to come inside to be embraced with comfort.
Some of my personal favorite whole-house colors include:
Once you’ve moved on from greige and have picked a fresh whole-house color, I want to encourage you to add some deep saturated color into your living spaces - your dining room, your bedroom, maybe up or down your stairs… have fun with it - at the end of the day, it’s just paint.
